30 days of hormone balancing (2) – The importance of clean water

No 2 – Drink plenty of healthy fluid

It is important to drink plenty of healthy fluids.

You should aim for 6-8 glasses of water per day. If you restrict liquids your body will retain water and you may become bloated.  A good fluid intake will help to help to flush out old hormones and other waste products from the body. It also provides a helpful environment in which the body’s metabolic processes can operate.

If you are not used to drinking plenty of water then introduce it slowly over a period of about 2 weeks, and drink steadily through the day.

However you need to drink clean water.

Tap water often contains various contaminants such as chlorine and fluoride which are detrimental to health and also old recycled hormones. Pharmaceutical drugs, especially contraceptive pills, HRT, and similar have found their way into our water supplies due to their high use amongst the population. It is therefore important to ensure you have a clean water supply other than tap water. Clean water should be used for both drinking and cooking. It is not very helpful to take extra care with your diet if you then ingest a load of extraneous hormones via your water supply!

Whilst you could buy bottled water this will be uneconomic over time. Therefore I would recommend at minimum a jug filter or preferably plumbed in water filter. Personally I have a reverse osmosis water filter which provides me with a constant supply of pure, good tasting water.

ACTION: Invest in a water filter
